2023-09-23perf/smmuv3: Enable HiSilicon Erratum 162001900 quirk for HIP08/09Yicong Yang
[ Upstream commit 0242737dc4eb9f6e9a5ea594b3f93efa0b12f28d ] Some HiSilicon SMMU PMCG suffers the erratum 162001900 that the PMU disable control sometimes fail to disable the counters. This will lead to error or inaccurate data since before we enable the counters the counter's still counting for the event used in last perf session. This patch tries to fix this by hardening the global disable process. Before disable the PMU, writing an invalid event type (0xffff) to focibly stop the counters. Correspondingly restore each events on pmu::pmu_enable(). For now, though, it's very easy to make our implicit lack of nesting support explicit for those cases, so they're less likely to be missed in future. commit 309a15cb16bb075da1c99d46fb457db6a1a2669e upstream To work around MMU-700 erratum 2812531 we need to ensure that certain sequences of commands cannot be issued without an intervening sync. In practice this falls out of our current command-batching machinery anyway - each batch only contains a single type of invalidation command, and ends with a sync. The only exception is when a batch is sufficiently large to need issuing across multiple command queue slots, wherein the earlier slots will not contain a sync and thus may in theory interleave with another batch being issued in parallel to create an affected sequence across the slot boundary. Since MMU-700 supports range invalidate commands and thus we will prefer to use them (which also happens to avoid conditions for other errata), I'm not entirely sure it's even possible for a single high-level invalidate call to generate a batch of more than 63 commands, but for the sake of robustness and documentation, wire up an option to enforce that a sync is always inserted for every slot issued. The other aspect is that the relative order of DVM commands cannot be controlled, so DVM cannot be used. Again that is already the status quo, but since we have at least defined ARM_SMMU_FEAT_BTM, we can explicitly disable it for documentation purposes even if it's not wired up anywhere yet. commit f322e8af35c7f23a8c08b595c38d6c855b2d836f upstream MMU-600 versions prior to r1p0 fail to correctly generate a WFE wakeup event when the command queue transitions fom full to non-full. We can easily work around this by simply hiding the SEV capability such that we fall back to polling for space in the queue - since MMU-600 implements MSIs we wouldn't expect to need SEV for sync completion either, so this should have little to no impact. 2023-08-03arm64: errata: Mitigate Ampere1 erratum AC03_CPU_38 at stage-2Oliver Upton
[ Upstream commit 6df696cd9bc1ceed0e92e36908f88bbd16d18255 ] AmpereOne has an erratum in its implementation of FEAT_HAFDBS that required disabling the feature on the design. This was done by reporting the feature as not implemented in the ID register, although the corresponding control bits were not actually RES0. This does not align well with the requirements of the architecture, which mandates these bits be RES0 if HAFDBS isn't implemented. The kernel's use of stage-1 is unaffected, as the HA and HD bits are only set if HAFDBS is detected in the ID register. KVM, on the other hand, relies on the RES0 behavior at stage-2 to use the same value for VTCR_EL2 on any cpu in the system. Mitigate the non-RES0 behavior by leaving VTCR_EL2.HA clear on affected systems. 2023-05-24irqchip/gicv3: Workaround for NVIDIA erratum T241-FABRIC-4Shanker Donthineni
[ Upstream commit 35727af2b15d98a2dd2811d631d3a3886111312e ] The T241 platform suffers from the T241-FABRIC-4 erratum which causes unexpected behavior in the GIC when multiple transactions are received simultaneously from different sources. This hardware issue impacts NVIDIA server platforms that use more than two T241 chips interconnected. Each chip has support for 320 {E}SPIs. This issue occurs when multiple packets from different GICs are incorrectly interleaved at the target chip. The erratum text below specifies exactly what can cause multiple transfer packets susceptible to interleaving and GIC state corruption. GIC state corruption can lead to a range of problems, including kernel panics, and unexpected behavior. >From the erratum text: "In some cases, inter-socket AXI4 Stream packets with multiple transfers, may be interleaved by the fabric when presented to ARM Generic Interrupt Controller. GIC expects all transfers of a packet to be delivered without any interleaving. The following GICv3 commands may result in multiple transfer packets over inter-socket AXI4 Stream interface: - Register reads from GICD_I* and GICD_N* - Register writes to 64-bit GICD registers other than GICD_IROUTERn* - ITS command MOVALL Multiple commands in GICv4+ utilize multiple transfer packets, including VMOVP, VMOVI, VMAPP, and 64-bit register accesses." This issue impacts system configurations with more than 2 sockets, that require multi-transfer packets to be sent over inter-socket AXI4 Stream interface between GIC instances on different sockets. GICv4 cannot be supported. GICv3 SW model can only be supported with the workaround. Single and Dual socket configurations are not impacted by this issue and support GICv3 and GICv4." The SPI interrupt deactivate path is not impacted by the erratum. To fix this problem, implement a workaround that ensures read accesses to the GICD_In{E} registers are directed to the chip that owns the SPI, and disable GICv4.x features. To simplify code changes, the gic_configure_irq() function uses the same alias region for both read and write operations to GICD_ICFGR. 2022-11-03arm64: cpufeature: Fix the visibility of compat hwcapsAmit Daniel Kachhap
Commit 237405ebef58 ("arm64: cpufeature: Force HWCAP to be based on the sysreg visible to user-space") forced the hwcaps to use sanitised user-space view of the id registers. However, the ID register structures used to select few compat cpufeatures (vfp, crc32, ...) are masked and hence such hwcaps do not appear in /proc/cpuinfo anymore for PER_LINUX32 personality. Add the ID register structures explicitly and set the relevant entry as visible. As these ID registers are now of type visible so make them available in 64-bit userspace by making necessary changes in register emulation logic and documentation. While at it, update the comment for structure ftr_generic_32bits[] which lists the ID register that use it. 2022-10-07arm64: errata: Add Cortex-A55 to the repeat tlbi listJames Morse
Cortex-A55 is affected by an erratum where in rare circumstances the CPUs may not handle a race between a break-before-make sequence on one CPU, and another CPU accessing the same page. This could allow a store to a page that has been unmapped. Work around this by adding the affected CPUs to the list that needs TLB sequences to be done twice. 2022-09-16arm64: errata: remove BF16 HWCAP due to incorrect result on Cortex-A510James Morse
Cortex-A510's erratum #2658417 causes two BF16 instructions to return the wrong result in rare circumstances when a pair of A510 CPUs are using shared neon hardware. The two instructions affected are BFMMLA and VMMLA, support for these is indicated by the BF16 HWCAP. Remove it on affected platforms. 2022-09-06arm64/sysreg: Add hwcap for SVE EBF16Mark Brown
SVE has a separate identification register indicating support for BFloat16 operations. Add a hwcap identifying support for EBF16 in this register, mirroring what we did for the non-SVE case. While there is currently an architectural requirement for BF16 support to be the same in SVE and non-SVE contexts there are separate identification registers this separate hwcap helps avoid issues if that requirement were to be relaxed in the future, we have already chosen to have a separate capability for base BF16 support. 2022-09-06arm64/sve: Document our actual ABI for clearing registers on syscallMark Brown
Currently our ABI documentation says that the state of the bits in the Z registers not shared with the V registers becomes undefined on syscall but our actual implementation unconditionally clears these bits. Taking advantage of the flexibility of our documented ABI would be a change in the observable ABI so there is concern around doing so, instead document the actual behaviour so that it is more discoverable for userspace programmers who might be able to take advantage of it and to record our decision about not changing the kernel ABI. This makes qemu's user mode implementation buggy since it does not clear these bits. 2022-08-23arm64: errata: add detection for AMEVCNTR01 incrementing incorrectlyIonela Voinescu
The AMU counter AMEVCNTR01 (constant counter) should increment at the same rate as the system counter. On affected Cortex-A510 cores, AMEVCNTR01 increments incorrectly giving a significantly higher output value. This results in inaccurate task scheduler utilization tracking and incorrect feedback on CPU frequency. Work around this problem by returning 0 when reading the affected counter in key locations that results in disabling all users of this counter from using it either for frequency invariance or as FFH reference counter. This effect is the same to firmware disabling affected counters. Details on how the two features are affected by this erratum: - AMU counters will not be used for frequency invariance for affected CPUs and CPUs in the same cpufreq policy. AMUs can still be used for frequency invariance for unaffected CPUs in the system. Although unlikely, if no alternative method can be found to support frequency invariance for affected CPUs (cpufreq based or solution based on platform counters) frequency invariance will be disabled. Please check the chapter on frequency invariance at Documentation/scheduler/sched-capacity.rst for details of its effect. - Given that FFH can be used to fetch either the core or constant counter values, restrictions are lifted regarding any of these counters returning a valid (!0) value. Therefore FFH is considered supported if there is a least one CPU that support AMUs, independent of any counters being disabled or affected by this erratum. Clarifying comments are now added to the cpc_ffh_supported(), cpu_read_constcnt() and cpu_read_corecnt() functions. The above is achieved through adding a new erratum: ARM64_ERRATUM_2457168. 2022-07-19arm64: errata: Remove AES hwcap for COMPAT tasksJames Morse
Cortex-A57 and Cortex-A72 have an erratum where an interrupt that occurs between a pair of AES instructions in aarch32 mode may corrupt the ELR. The task will subsequently produce the wrong AES result. The AES instructions are part of the cryptographic extensions, which are optional. User-space software will detect the support for these instructions from the hwcaps. If the platform doesn't support these instructions a software implementation should be used. Remove the hwcap bits on affected parts to indicate user-space should not use the AES instructions. Cortex-A510 is affected by an erratum where in rare circumstances the CPUs may not handle a race between a break-before-make sequence on one CPU, and another CPU accessing the same page. This could allow a store to a page that has been unmapped. Work around this by adding the affected CPUs to the list that needs TLB sequences to be done twice. Unfortunately, the name/value choice for the MTE ELF segment type (PT_ARM_MEMTAG_MTE) was pretty poor: LOPROC+1 is already in use by PT_AARCH64_UNWIND, as defined in the AArch64 ELF ABI (https://github.com/ARM-software/abi-aa/blob/main/aaelf64/aaelf64.rst). Update the ELF segment type value to LOPROC+2 and also change the define to PT_AARCH64_MEMTAG_MTE to match the AArch64 ELF ABI namespace. The AArch64 ELF ABI document is updating accordingly (segment type not previously mentioned in the document). When booting the kernel we access system registers such as GCR_EL1 if MTE is supported. These accesses are defined to trap to EL3 if SCR_EL3.ATA is disabled. Furthermore, tag accesses will not behave as expected if SCR_EL3.ATA is not set, or if HCR_EL2.ATA is not set and we were booted at EL1. Therefore, require that these bits are enabled when appropriate. As pointed out by Evgenii Stepanov one potential issue with the new ABI for enabling asymmetric is that if there are multiple places where MTE is configured in a process, some of which were compiled with the old prctl.h and some of which were compiled with the new prctl.h, there may be problems keeping track of which MTE modes are requested. For example some code may disable only sync and async modes leaving asymmetric mode enabled when it intended to fully disable MTE. In order to avoid such mishaps remove asymmetric mode from the prctl(), instead implicitly allowing it if both sync and async modes are requested. This should not disrupt userspace since a process requesting both may already see a mix of sync and async modes due to differing defaults between CPUs or changes in default while the process is running but it does mean that userspace is unable to explicitly request asymmetric mode without changing the system default for CPUs. 2022-03-07irqchip/gic-v3: Workaround Marvell erratum 38545 when reading IARLinu Cherian
When a IAR register read races with a GIC interrupt RELEASE event, GIC-CPU interface could wrongly return a valid INTID to the CPU for an interrupt that is already released(non activated) instead of 0x3ff. As a side effect, an interrupt handler could run twice, once with interrupt priority and then with idle priority. As a workaround, gic_read_iar is updated so that it will return a valid interrupt ID only if there is a change in the active priority list after the IAR read on all the affected Silicons. 2022-02-15arm64/mte: Clarify mode reported by PR_GET_TAGGED_ADDR_CTRLMark Brown
With the current wording readers might infer that PR_GET_TAGGED_ADDR_CTRL will report the mode currently active in the thread however this is not the actual behaviour, instead all modes currently selected by the process will be reported with the mode used depending on the combination of the requested modes and the default set for the current CPU. This has been the case since 433c38f40f6a81 ("arm64: mte: change ASYNC and SYNC TCF settings into bitfields"), before that we did not allow more than one mode to be requested simultaneously. Update the documentation to more clearly reflect current behaviour. 2022-02-03KVM: arm64: Workaround Cortex-A510's single-step and PAC trap errataJames Morse
Cortex-A510's erratum #2077057 causes SPSR_EL2 to be corrupted when single-stepping authenticated ERET instructions. A single step is expected, but a pointer authentication trap is taken instead. The erratum causes SPSR_EL1 to be copied to SPSR_EL2, which could allow EL1 to cause a return to EL2 with a guest controlled ELR_EL2. Because the conditions require an ERET into active-not-pending state, this is only a problem for the EL2 when EL2 is stepping EL1. In this case the previous SPSR_EL2 value is preserved in struct kvm_vcpu, and can be restored.
