git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/cxl/cxl
Pull cxl updates from Dan Williams:
"More preparation and plumbing work in the CXL subsystem.
From an end user perspective the highlight here is lighting up the CXL
Persistent Memory related commands (label read / write) with the
generic ioctl() front-end in LIBNVDIMM.
Otherwise, the ability to instantiate new persistent and volatile
memory regions is still on track for v5.17.
Summary:
- Fix support for platforms that do not enumerate every ACPI0016 (CXL
Host Bridge) in the CHBS (ACPI Host Bridge Structure).
- Introduce a common pci_find_dvsec_capability() helper, clean up
open coded implementations in various drivers.
- Add 'cxl_test' for regression testing CXL subsystem ABIs.
'cxl_test' is a module built from tools/testing/cxl/ that mocks up
a CXL topology to augment the nascent support for emulation of CXL
devices in QEMU.
- Convert libnvdimm to use the uuid API.
- Complete the definition of CXL namespace labels in libnvdimm.
- Tunnel libnvdimm label operations from nd_ioctl() back to the CXL
mailbox driver. Enable 'ndctl {read,write}-labels' for CXL.
- Continue to sort and refactor functionality into distinct driver
and core-infrastructure buckets. For example, mailbox handling is
now a generic core capability consumed by the PCI and cxl_test
drivers"

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jic23/iio into char-misc-next
Jonathan writes:
First set of IIO new device and feature support for the 5.16 cycle
Counter subsystem changes now sent separately.
This has been a busy cycle, so lots here and a few more stragglers to
come next week.
Big new feature in this cycle is probably output buffer support.
This has been in the works for a very long time so it's great to see
Mihail pick up the challenge and build upon his predecessors work to finally
bring this feature to mainline.
New device support
------------------
* adi,adxl313
- New driver and dt bindings for this low power accelerometer.
* adi,adxl355
- New driver and dt bindings for this accelerometer.
- Later series adds buffer support.
* asahi-kasei,ak8975
- Minor additions to driver to support ak09916
* aspeed,aspeed-adc
- Substantial rework plus feature additions to add support for the
ast2600 including a new dt bindings doc.
* atmel,at91_sama5d2
- Rework and support introduced for the sama7g5 parts.
* maxim,max31865
- New driver and bindings for this RTD temperature sensor chip.
* nxp,imx8qxp
- New driver and bindings for the ADC found on the i.MX 8QuadXPlus Soc.
* senseair,sunrise
- New driver and bindings for this family of carbon dioxide gas sensors.
* sensiron,scd4x
- New driver and bindings for this carbon dioxide gas sensor.
New features
------------
* Output buffer support. Works in a similar fashion to input buffers, but
in this case userspace pushes data into the kfifo which is then drained
to the device when a trigger occurs. Support added to the ad5766 DAC
driver.
* Core, devm_iio_map_array_register() to avoid need for
devm_add_action_or_reset() based cleanup in fully managed allocation
drivers.
* Core iio_push_to_buffers_with_ts_unaligned() function to safely handle a
few drivers where it really hard to ensure the correct data alignment in
an iio_push_to_buffers_with_timestamp() call. Note this uses a bounce
buffer so should be avoided whenever possible. Used in the ti,adc108s102,
invense,mpu3050 and adi,adis16400. This closes the last known set
of drivers with alignment issues at this interface.
* maxim,max1027
- Substantial rework to this driver main target of which was supporting
use of other triggers than it's own EOC interrupt.
- Transfer optimization.
* nxp,fxls8962af
- Threshold even support including using it as a wakeup source.
Cleanups, minor fixes etc

Chances of a common type to multiple drivers:
* devm_ conversion and drop of .remove() callbacks in:

* devm_platform_ioremap_resource() used to reduce boilerplate
- cirrus,ep93xx
- rockchip,saradc
- stm,stm32-dac
* Use dev_err_probe() in more places to both not print on deferred probe and
ensure a reason for the deferral is available for debug purposes.

long term plan is to change these all over to returning void. In some cases
these patches just make it 'obvious' they always return 0 where it was the
case before but not easy to tell.

- Bring driver inline with documented bindings.
* adi,ad7746
- Trivial style fix

This change introduces a device-managed variant to the
iio_map_array_register() function. It's a simple implementation of calling
iio_map_array_register() and registering a callback to
iio_map_array_unregister() with the devm_add_action_or_reset().
The function uses an explicit 'dev' parameter to bind the unwinding to. It
could have been implemented to implicitly use the parent of the IIO device,
however it shouldn't be too expensive to callers to just specify to which
device object to bind this unwind call.
It would make the API a bit more flexible.

Now that the internals of mailbox operations are abstracted from the PCI
specifics a bulk of infrastructure can move to the core.
The CXL_PMEM driver intends to proxy LIBNVDIMM UAPI and driver requests
to the equivalent functionality provided by the CXL hardware mailbox
interface. In support of that intent move the mailbox implementation to
a shared location for the CXL_PCI driver native IOCTL path and CXL_PMEM
nvdimm command proxy path to share.
A unit test framework seeks to implement a unit test backend transport
for mailbox commands to communicate mocked up payloads. It can reuse all
of the mailbox infrastructure minus the PCI specifics, so that also gets
moved to the core.
Finally with the mailbox infrastructure and ioctl handling being
transport generic there is no longer any need to pass file
file_operations to devm_cxl_add_memdev(). That allows all the ioctl
boilerplate to move into the core for unit test reuse.
No functional change intended, just code movement.

Lightnvm supports the OCSSD 1.x and 2.0 specs which were early attempts
to produce Open Channel SSDs and never made it into the NVMe spec
proper. They have since been superceeded by NVMe enhancements such
as ZNS support. Remove the support per the deprecation schedule.

placed calls to all the drivers.

CXL core is growing, and it's already arguably unmanageable. To support
future growth, move core functionality to a new directory and rename the
file to represent just bus support. Future work will remove non-bus
functionality.
Note that mem.h is renamed to cxlmem.h to avoid a namespace collision
with the global ARCH=um mem.h header.

Modernise the documentation to make it more precise and update the use of
pixel rate control and various other changes. In particular:
- Use non-proportional font for file names, properties as well as
controls.
- The unit of the HBLANK control is pixels, not lines.
- The unit of PIXEL_RATE control is pixels per second, not Hz.
- Merge common requirements for CSI-2 and parallel busses.
- Include all DT properties needed for assigned clocks.
- Fix referencing the link rate control.
- SMIA driver's new name is CCS driver.
- The PIXEL_RATE control denotes pixel rate on the pixel array on camera
sensors. Do not suggest it is used to tell the maximum pixel rate on the
bus anymore.
- Improve ReST syntax (plain struct and function names).
- Remove the suggestion to use s_power() in receiver drivers.
- Make MIPI website URL use HTTPS, add Wikipedia links to BT.601 and
BT.656.
