2024-01-01gpio: dwapb: mask/unmask IRQ when disable/enale itxiongxin
commit 1cc3542c76acb5f59001e3e562eba672f1983355 upstream. In the hardware implementation of the I2C HID driver based on DesignWare GPIO IRQ chip, when the user continues to use the I2C HID device in the suspend process, the I2C HID interrupt will be masked after the resume process is finished. This is because the disable_irq()/enable_irq() of the DesignWare GPIO driver does not synchronize the IRQ mask register state. In normal use of the I2C HID procedure, the GPIO IRQ irq_mask()/irq_unmask() functions are called in pairs. In case of an exception, i2c_hid_core_suspend() calls disable_irq() to disable the GPIO IRQ. With low probability, this causes irq_unmask() to not be called, which causes the GPIO IRQ to be masked and not unmasked in enable_irq(), raising an exception. Add synchronization to the masked register state in the dwapb_irq_enable()/dwapb_irq_disable() function. mask the GPIO IRQ before disabling it. After enabling the GPIO IRQ, unmask the IRQ. 2023-12-13gpiolib: sysfs: Fix error handling on failed exportBoerge Struempfel
[ Upstream commit 95dd1e34ff5bbee93a28ff3947eceaf6de811b1a ] If gpio_set_transitory() fails, we should free the GPIO again. Most notably, the flag FLAG_REQUESTED has previously been set in gpiod_request_commit(), and should be reset on failure. To my knowledge, this does not affect any current users, since the gpio_set_transitory() mainly returns 0 and -ENOTSUPP, which is converted to 0. However the gpio_set_transitory() function calles the .set_config() function of the corresponding GPIO chip and there are some GPIO drivers in which some (unlikely) branches return other values like -EPROBE_DEFER, and -EINVAL. In these cases, the above mentioned FLAG_REQUESTED would not be reset, which results in the pin being blocked until the next reboot. [ Upstream commit 9e8bc2dda5a7a8e2babc9975f4b11c9a6196e490 ] As timbgpio_irq_enable()/timbgpio_irq_disable() callback could be executed under irq context, it could introduce double locks on &tgpio->lock if it preempts other execution units requiring the same locks. timbgpio_gpio_set() --> timbgpio_update_bit() --> spin_lock(&tgpio->lock) <interrupt> --> timbgpio_irq_disable() --> spin_lock_irqsave(&tgpio->lock) This flaw was found by an experimental static analysis tool I am developing for irq-related deadlock. To prevent the potential deadlock, the patch uses spin_lock_irqsave() on &tgpio->lock inside timbgpio_gpio_set() to prevent the possible deadlock scenario. This means these functions can sleep and the PMIC EIC chip should set the can_sleep property to true. This will ensure that a warning is printed when trying to get the value from a context that potentially can't sleep. [ Upstream commit ff7a1790fbf92f1bdd0966d3f0da3ea808ede876 ] Up until commit 6a45b0e2589f ("gpiolib: Introduce gpiochip_irqchip_add_domain()") all irq_domains were allocated by gpiolib itself and thus gpiolib also takes care of freeing it. With gpiochip_irqchip_add_domain() a user of gpiolib can associate an irq_domain with the gpio_chip. This irq_domain is not managed by gpiolib and therefore must not be freed by gpiolib. 2023-06-14gpio: sim: fix memory corruption when adding named lines and unnamed hogsKent Gibson
[ Upstream commit 95ae9979bfe3174c2ee8d64409c44532f2881907 ] When constructing the sim, gpio-sim constructs an array of named lines, sized based on the largest offset of any named line, and then initializes that array with the names of all lines, including unnamed hogs with higher offsets. In doing so it writes NULLs beyond the extent of the array. Add a check that only named lines are used to initialize the array. 2023-06-05gpio-f7188x: fix chip name and pin count on Nuvoton chipHenning Schild
[ Upstream commit 3002b8642f016d7fe3ff56240dacea1075f6b877 ] In fact the device with chip id 0xD283 is called NCT6126D, and that is the chip id the Nuvoton code was written for. Correct that name to avoid confusion, because a NCT6116D in fact exists as well but has another chip id, and is currently not supported. The look at the spec also revealed that GPIO group7 in fact has 8 pins, so correct the pin count in that group as well. 2023-05-01gpiolib: acpi: Add a ignore wakeup quirk for Clevo NL5xNUWerner Sembach
commit 782eea0c89f7d071d6b56ecfa1b8b0c81164b9be upstream. commit 1796f808e4bb ("HID: i2c-hid: acpi: Stop setting wakeup_capable") changed the policy such that I2C touchpads may be able to wake up the system by default if the system is configured as such. However on Clevo NL5xNU there is a mistake in the ACPI tables that the TP_ATTN# signal connected to GPIO 9 is configured as ActiveLow and level triggered but connected to a pull up. As soon as the system suspends the touchpad loses power and then the system wakes up. To avoid this problem, introduce a quirk for this model that will prevent the wakeup capability for being set for GPIO 9. This patch is analoge to a very similar patch for NL5xRU, just the DMI string changed. [ Upstream commit d63f11c02b8d3e54bdb65d8c309f73b7f474aec4 ] commit 1796f808e4bb ("HID: i2c-hid: acpi: Stop setting wakeup_capable") adjusted the policy to enable wakeup by default if the ACPI tables indicated that a device was wake capable. It was reported however that this broke suspend on at least two System76 systems in S3 mode and two Lenovo Gen2a systems, but only with S3. When the machines are set to s2idle, wakeup behaves properly. Configuring the GPIOs for wakeup with S3 doesn't work properly, so only set it when the system supports low power idle. [ Upstream commit 4cb786180dfb5258ff3111181b5e4ecb1d4a297b ] commit 1796f808e4bb ("HID: i2c-hid: acpi: Stop setting wakeup_capable") changed the policy such that I2C touchpads may be able to wake up the system by default if the system is configured as such. However on Clevo NL5xRU there is a mistake in the ACPI tables that the TP_ATTN# signal connected to GPIO 9 is configured as ActiveLow and level triggered but connected to a pull up. As soon as the system suspends the touchpad loses power and then the system wakes up. To avoid this problem, introduce a quirk for this model that will prevent the wakeup capability for being set for GPIO 9. To avoid that: use an RW-semaphore in which the syscalls take it for reading (so that we don't needlessly prohibit the user-space from calling syscalls simultaneously) while gpiochip_remove() takes it for writing so that it can only happen once all syscalls return. [ Upstream commit 533aae7c94dbc2b14301cfd68ae7e0e90f0c8438 ] There are several places where we can crash the kernel by requesting lines, unbinding the GPIO device, then calling any of the system calls relevant to the GPIO character device's annonymous file descriptors: ioctl(), read(), poll(). While I observed it with the GPIO simulator, it will also happen for any of the GPIO devices that can be hot-unplugged - for instance any HID GPIO expander (e.g. CP2112). This affects both v1 and v2 uAPI. This fixes it partially by checking if gdev->chip is not NULL but it doesn't entirely remedy the situation as we still have a race condition in which another thread can remove the device after the check. 2022-11-30gpio: amd8111: Fix PCI device reference count leakXiongfeng Wang
for_each_pci_dev() is implemented by pci_get_device(). The comment of pci_get_device() says that it will increase the reference count for the returned pci_dev and also decrease the reference count for the input pci_dev @from if it is not NULL. If we break for_each_pci_dev() loop with pdev not NULL, we need to call pci_dev_put() to decrease the reference count. Add the missing pci_dev_put() after the 'out' label. Since pci_dev_put() can handle NULL input parameter, there is no problem for the 'Device not found' branch. For the normal path, add pci_dev_put() in amd_gpio_exit(). Here is a backtrace report about memory leak detected in gpiochip_setup_dev(): unreferenced object 0xffff88810b406400 (size 512): comm "python3", pid 1682, jiffies 4295346908 (age 24.090s) backtrace: kmalloc_trace device_add device_private_init at drivers/base/core.c:3361 (inlined by) device_add at drivers/base/core.c:3411 cdev_device_add gpiolib_cdev_register gpiochip_setup_dev gpiochip_add_data_with_key gcdev_register() & gcdev_unregister() would call device_add() & device_del() (no matter CONFIG_GPIO_CDEV is enabled or not) to register/unregister device. However, if device_add() succeeds, some resource (like struct device_private allocated by device_private_init()) is not released by device_del(). Therefore, after device_add() succeeds by gcdev_register(), it needs to call put_device() to release resource in the error handle path. Here we move forward the register of release function, and let it release every piece of resource by put_device() instead of kfree(). While at it, fix another subtle issue, i.e. when gc->ngpio is equal to 0, we still call kcalloc() and, in case of further error, kfree() on the ZERO_PTR pointer, which is not NULL. It's not a bug per se, but rather waste of the resources and potentially wrong expectation about contents of the gdev->descs variable.
