After recent cleanups, gcc started warning about a suspicious
memcpy() call during the s2io_io_resume() function:
In function '__dev_addr_set',
inlined from 'eth_hw_addr_set' at include/linux/etherdevice.h:318:2,
inlined from 's2io_set_mac_addr' at drivers/net/ethernet/neterion/s2io.c:5205:2,
inlined from 's2io_io_resume' at drivers/net/ethernet/neterion/s2io.c:8569:7:
arch/x86/include/asm/string_32.h:182:25: error: '__builtin_memcpy' accessing 6 bytes at offsets 0 and 2 overlaps 4 bytes at offset 2 [-Werror=restrict]

| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
include/linux/netdevice.h:4648:9: note: in expansion of macro 'memcpy'
4648 | memcpy(dev->dev_addr, addr, len);
| ^~~~~~
What apparently happened is that an old cleanup changed the calling
conventions for s2io_set_mac_addr() from taking an ethernet address
as a character array to taking a struct sockaddr, but one of the
callers was not changed at the same time.
Change it to instead call the low-level do_s2io_prog_unicast() function
that still takes the old argument type.

Build failure in drivers/net/wwan/mhi_wwan_mbim.c:
add missing parameter (0, assuming we don't want buffer pre-alloc).
Conflict in drivers/net/dsa/sja1105/sja1105_main.c between:

Most users of ndo_do_ioctl are ethernet drivers that implement
the MII commands SIOCGMIIPHY/SIOCGMIIREG/SIOCSMIIREG, or hardware
timestamping with SIOCSHWTSTAMP/SIOCGHWTSTAMP.
Separate these from the few drivers that use ndo_do_ioctl to
implement SIOCBOND, SIOCBR and SIOCWANDEV commands.
This is a purely cosmetic change intended to help readers find
their way through the implementation.

This code is copying strings in 64 bit quantities, the device
returns them in big endian. As long as we store in big endian
IOW endian on both sides matches, we're good, so swap to_be64,
not from be64.
This fixes ~60 sparse warnings.

wait_for_cmd_complete() uses in_interrupt() to detect whether it is safe to
sleep or not.
The usage of in_interrupt() in drivers is phased out and Linus clearly
requested that code which changes behaviour depending on context should
either be seperated or the context be conveyed in an argument passed by the
caller, which usually knows the context.
in_interrupt() also is only partially correct because it fails to chose the
correct code path when just preemption or interrupts are disabled.
Add an argument 'may_block' to both functions and adjust the callers to
pass the context information.
The following call chains which end up invoking wait_for_cmd_complete()
were analyzed to be safe to sleep:
s2io_card_up()
s2io_set_multicast()
init_nic()
init_tti()
s2io_close()
do_s2io_delete_unicast_mc()
do_s2io_add_mac()
s2io_set_mac_addr()
do_s2io_prog_unicast()
do_s2io_add_mac()
s2io_reset()
do_s2io_restore_unicast_mc()
do_s2io_add_mc()
do_s2io_add_mac()
s2io_open()
do_s2io_prog_unicast()
do_s2io_add_mac()
The following call chains which end up invoking wait_for_cmd_complete()
were analyzed to be safe to sleep:
__dev_set_rx_mode()
s2io_set_multicast()
s2io_txpic_intr_handle()
s2io_link()
init_tti()
Add a may_sleep argument to wait_for_cmd_complete(), s2io_set_multicast()
and init_tti() and hand the context information in from the call sites.

vxge_os_dma_malloc() and vxge_os_dma_malloc_async() are both called from
callchains which use GFP_KERNEL allocations unconditionally or have other
requirements to be called from fully preemptible task context..
vxge_os_dma_malloc():
1) __vxge_hw_blockpool_create() <- GFP_KERNEL
2) __vxge_hw_mempool_grow() <- vzalloc()
__vxge_hw_blockpool_malloc()
vxge_os_dma_malloc_async():
1 __vxge_hw_mempool_grow() <- vzalloc()
__vxge_hw_blockpool_malloc()
__vxge_hw_blockpool_blocks_add()
2) vxge_hw_vpath_open() <- vzalloc()
__vxge_hw_blockpool_block_allocate()
That means neither of these functions needs a conditional allocation mode.
Remove the in_interrupt() conditional and use GFP_KERNEL.

As part of the W=1 cleanups for ethernet, a million [*] driver
comments had to be cleaned up to get the W=1 compilation to
succeed. This change finally makes the drivers/net/ethernet tree
compile with W=1 set on the command line. NOTE: The kernel uses
kdoc style (see Documentation/process/kernel-doc.rst) when
documenting code, not doxygen or other styles.
After this patch the x86_64 build has no warnings from W=1, however
scripts/kernel-doc says there are 1545 more warnings in source files, that
I need to develop a script to fix in a followup patch.
The errors fixed here are all kdoc of a few classes, with a few outliers:

The register reads should be OK, because the current
implementation of readl and friends will always execute even
without an lvalue.
When it makes sense, just remove the lvalue assignment and the
local. Other times, just remove the offending code, and
occasionally, just mark the variable as maybe unused since it
could be used in an ifdef or debug scenario.

The UDP reuseport conflict was a little bit tricky.
The net-next code, via bpf-next, extracted the reuseport handling
into a helper so that the BPF sk lookup code could invoke it.
At the same time, the logic for reuseport handling of unconnected
sockets changed via commit efc6b6f6c3113e8b203b9debfb72d81e0f3dcace
which changed the logic to carry on the reuseport result into the
rest of the lookup loop if we do not return immediately.
This requires moving the reuseport_has_conns() logic into the callers.
While we are here, get rid of inline directives as they do not belong
in foo.c files.
The other changes were cases of more straightforward overlapping
modifications.

Using uninitialized_var() is dangerous as it papers over real bugs[1]
(or can in the future), and suppresses unrelated compiler warnings
(e.g. "unused variable"). If the compiler thinks it is uninitialized,
either simply initialize the variable or make compiler changes.
In preparation for removing[2] the[3] macro[4], remove all remaining
needless uses with the following script:
git grep '\buninitialized_var\b' | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u | \
xargs perl -pi -e \
's/\buninitialized_var\(([^\)]+)\)/\1/g;
s:\s*/\* (GCC be quiet|to make compiler happy) \*/$::g;'
drivers/video/fbdev/riva/riva_hw.c was manually tweaked to avoid
pathological white-space.
No outstanding warnings were found building allmodconfig with GCC 9.3.0
for x86_64, i386, arm64, arm, powerpc, powerpc64le, s390x, mips, sparc64,
alpha, and m68k.

The patch has been generated with the coccinelle script below and has been
hand modified to replace GPF_ with a correct flag.
It has been compile tested.
When memory is allocated in 'init_shared_mem()' GFP_KERNEL can be used
because this flag is already used to allocate some memory in this function.
While at it, update some debug message to match the new function names.

With legacy PM, drivers themselves were responsible for managing the
device's power states and takes care of register states.
After upgrading to the generic structure, PCI core will take care of
required tasks and drivers should do only device-specific operations.
Use "struct dev_pm_ops" variable to bind the callbacks.

Organize driver documentation by device type. Most documents
have fairly verbose yet uninformative names, so let users
first select a well defined device type, and then search for
a particular driver.
While at it rename the section from Vendor drivers to
Hardware drivers. This seems more accurate, besides people
sometimes refer to out-of-tree drivers as vendor drivers.

Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over
'---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually
decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances.
This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines,
I also fixed the indentation.
There are a variety of indentation styles found.
a) 4 spaces + '---help---'
b) 7 spaces + '---help---'
c) 8 spaces + '---help---'
d) 1 space + 1 tab + '---help---'
e) 1 tab + '---help---' (correct indentation)
f) 1 tab + 1 space + '---help---'
g) 1 tab + 2 spaces + '---help---'
In order to convert all of them to 1 tab + 'help', I ran the
following commend:
$ find . -name 'Kconfig*' | xargs sed -i 's/^[[:space:]]*---help---/\thelp/'

kvzalloc already zeroes the memory during the allocation.
pci_alloc_consistent calls dma_alloc_coherent directly.
In commit 518a2f1925c3
("dma-mapping: zero memory returned from dma_alloc_*"),
dma_alloc_coherent has already zeroed the memory.
So the memset after these function is not needed.

Pull mmiowb removal from Will Deacon:
"Remove Mysterious Macro Intended to Obscure Weird Behaviours (mmiowb())
Remove mmiowb() from the kernel memory barrier API and instead, for
architectures that need it, hide the barrier inside spin_unlock() when
MMIO has been performed inside the critical section.
The only relatively recent changes have been addressing review
comments on the documentation, which is in a much better shape thanks
to the efforts of Ben and Ingo.
I was initially planning to split this into two pull requests so that
you could run the coccinelle script yourself, however it's been plain
sailing in linux-next so I've just included the whole lot here to keep
things simple"

Currently if a pci dma mapping failure is detected a free'd
memblock address is returned rather than a NULL (that indicates
an error). Fix this by ensuring NULL is returned on this error case.

mmiowb() is now implied by spin_unlock() on architectures that require
it, so there is no reason to call it from driver code. This patch was
generated using coccinelle:
@mmiowb@
@@
- mmiowb();
and invoked as:
$ for d in drivers include/linux/qed sound; do \
spatch --include-headers --sp-file mmiowb.cocci --dir $d --in-place; done
NOTE: mmiowb() has only ever guaranteed ordering in conjunction with
spin_unlock(). However, pairing each mmiowb() removal in this patch with
the corresponding call to spin_unlock() is not at all trivial, so there
is a small chance that this change may regress any drivers incorrectly
relying on mmiowb() to order MMIO writes between CPUs using lock-free
synchronisation. If you've ended up bisecting to this commit, you can
reintroduce the mmiowb() calls using wmb() instead, which should restore
the old behaviour on all architectures other than some esoteric ia64
systems.

Currently variable data0 is not being initialized so a garbage value is
being passed to vxge_hw_vpath_fw_api and this value is being written to
the rts_access_steer_data0 register. There are other occurrances where
data0 is being initialized to zero (e.g. in function
vxge_hw_upgrade_read_version) so I think it makes sense to ensure data0
is initialized likewise to 0.

Documentation/networking/ is full of cryptically named files with
driver documentation. This makes finding interesting information
at a glance really hard. Move all those files into a directory
called device_drivers (since not all drivers are for device) and
fix up references.
