2020-07-09 | SPI SUBSYSTEM: Replace HTTP links with HTTPS ones | Alexander A. Klimov
Rationale: Reduces attack surface on kernel devs opening the links for MITM as HTTPS traffic is much harder to manipulate. Deterministic algorithm: For each file: If not .svg: For each line: If doesn't contain `\bxmlns\b`: For each link, `\bhttp://[^# \t\r\n]*(?:\w|/)`: If neither `\bgnu\.org/license`, nor `\bmozilla\.org/MPL\b`: If both the HTTP and HTTPS versions return 200 OK and serve the same content: Replace HTTP with HTTPS. 2019-12-27 | spi: oc-tiny: Use GPIO descriptors | Linus Walleij
Switch the OC Tiny driver over to handling CS GPIOs using GPIO descriptors in the core. This driver is entirely relying on GPIOs to be used for chipselect, so let the core pick these out using either device tree or machine descriptors. There are no in-tree users of this driver so no board files need to be patched, out-of-tree boardfiles can use machine descriptor tables, c.f. commit 1dfbf334f123. 2018-06-12 | treewide: devm_kzalloc() -> devm_kcalloc() | Kees Cook
The devm_kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, devm_kcalloc(). This patch replaces cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) with: devm_kcalloc(handle, a * b, gfp) as well as handling cases of: devm_kzalloc(handle, a * b * c, gfp) with: devm_kzalloc(handle, array3_size(a, b, c), gfp) as it's slightly less ugly than: devm_kcalloc(handle, array_size(a, b), c, gfp) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: devm_kzalloc(handle, 4 * 1024, gfp) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. Some manual whitespace fixes were needed in this patch, as Coccinelle really liked to write "=devm_kcalloc..." instead of "= devm_kcalloc...". The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ expression HANDLE; type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( devm_kzalloc(HANDLE, - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | devm_kzalloc(HANDLE, - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression HANDLE; 2013-09-17 | spi: bitbang: Let spi_bitbang_start() take a reference to master | Axel Lin
Many drivers that use bitbang library have a leak on probe error paths. This is because once a spi_master_get() call succeeds, we need an additional spi_master_put() call to free the memory. Fix this issue by moving the code taking a reference to master to spi_bitbang_start(), so spi_bitbang_start() will take a reference to master on success. With this change, the caller is responsible for calling spi_bitbang_stop() to decrement the reference and spi_master_put() as counterpart of spi_alloc_master() to prevent a memory leak. So now we have below patten for drivers using bitbang library: probe: spi_alloc_master -> Init reference count to 1 spi_bitbang_start -> Increment reference count remove: spi_bitbang_stop -> Decrement reference count spi_master_put -> Decrement reference count (reference count reaches 0) Fixup all users accordingly. 2013-08-29 | spi: simplify devm_request_mem_region/devm_ioremap | Julia Lawall
Convert the composition of devm_request_mem_region and devm_ioremap to a single call to devm_ioremap_resource. The associated call to platform_get_resource is also simplified and moved next to the new call to devm_ioremap_resource. This was done using a combination of the semantic patches devm_ioremap_resource.cocci and devm_request_and_ioremap.cocci, found in the scripts/coccinelle/api directory. This patch also removes the label exit_busy, to use the error code returned by the failing operation, rather than always -EBUSY.
