2012-03-20hfsplus: add an ioctl to bless filesMatthew Garrett
Making an hfsplus partition bootable requires the ability to "bless" a file by putting its inode number in the volume header. Doing this from userspace on a mounted filesystem is impractical since the kernel will write back the original values on unmount. Add an ioctl to allow userspace to update the volume header information based on the target file. 2012-01-03vfs: mnt_drop_write_file()Al Viro
new helper (wrapper around mnt_drop_write()) to be used in pair with mnt_want_write_file(). Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>
2012-01-03switch a bunch of places to mnt_want_write_file()Al Viro
it's both faster (in case when file has been opened for write) and cleaner. Signed-off-by: Al Viro <viro@zeniv.linux.org.uk>

2010-12-16hfsplus: fix an artifact in ioctl flag checkingAnton Salikhmetov
Fix a flag checking artifact in hfsplus_ioctl_getflags() routine found while doing clean-up against assignments inside `if's. Signed-off-by: Anton Salikhmetov <alexo@tuxera.com> Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@tuxera.com>
2010-11-23hfsplus: optimize fsyncChristoph Hellwig
Avoid doing unessecary work in fsync. Do nothing unless the inode was marked dirty, and only write the various metadata inodes out if they contain any dirty state from this inode. This is archived by adding three new dirty bits to the hfsplus-specific inode which are set in the correct places. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@tuxera.com>
2010-10-25hfsplus: fix double lock typo in ioctlDan Carpenter
This was supposed to be a mutex_unlock() instead of a mutex_lock(). Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <error27@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@tuxera.com>
2010-10-15hfsplus: fix getxattr return valueChristoph Hellwig
We need to support -EOPNOTSUPP for attributes that are not supported to match other filesystems and allow userspace to detect if Posix ACLs are supported or not. setxattr already gets this right. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@tuxera.com>
2010-10-14hfsplus: remove superflous rootflags field in hfsplus_inode_infoChristoph Hellwig
The rootflags field in hfsplus_inode_info only caches the immutable and append-only flags in the VFS inode, so we can easily get rid of it. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@tuxera.com>
2010-10-01hfsplus: fix HFSPLUS_I calling conventionChristoph Hellwig
HFSPLUS_I doesn't return a pointer to the hfsplus-specific inode information like all other FOO_I macros, but dereference the pointer in a way that made it look like a direct struct derefence. This only works as long as the HFSPLUS_I macro is used directly and prevents us from keepig a local hfsplus_inode_info pointer. Fix the calling convention and introduce a local hip variable in all functions that use it constantly. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@tuxera.com>
2010-10-01hfsplus: fix HFSPLUS_SB calling conventionChristoph Hellwig
HFSPLUS_SB doesn't return a pointer to the hfsplus-specific superblock information like all other FOO_SB macros, but dereference the pointer in a way that made it look like a direct struct derefence. This only works as long as the HFSPLUS_SB macro is used directly and prevents us from keepig a local hfsplus_sb_info pointer. Fix the calling convention and introduce a local sbi variable in all functions that use it constantly. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@tuxera.com>
2010-10-01hfsplus: protect setflags using i_mutexChristoph Hellwig

2010-10-01hfsplus: fix BKL leak in hfsplus_ioctlChristoph Hellwig
Currenly the HFSPLUS_IOC_EXT2_GETFLAGS case never unlocks the BKL, which can lead to easily reproduced lockups when doing multiple GETFLAGS ioctls. Fix this by only taking the BKL for the HFSPLUS_IOC_EXT2_SETFLAGS case as neither HFSPLUS_IOC_EXT2_GETFLAGS not the default error case needs it. Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@tuxera.com>
2010-05-17hfsplus: Push down BKL into ioctl functionArnd Bergmann
HFS is one of the remaining users of the ->ioctl function, convert it blindly to unlocked_ioctl by pushing down the BKL. Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Signed-off-by: Frederic Weisbecker <fweisbec@gmail.com>
2008-04-19[PATCH] r/o bind mounts: elevate write count for ioctls()Dave Hansen

2007-07-17Introduce is_owner_or_cap() to wrap CAP_FOWNER use with fsuid checkSatyam Sharma
Introduce is_owner_or_cap() macro in fs.h, and convert over relevant users to it. This is done because we want to avoid bugs in the future where we check for only effective fsuid of the current task against a file's owning uid, without simultaneously checking for CAP_FOWNER as well, thus violating its semantics. [ XFS uses special macros and structures, and in general looked ... untouchable, so we leave it alone -- but it has been looked over. ] The (current->fsuid != inode->i_uid) check in generic_permission() and exec_permission_lite() is left alone, because those operations are covered by CAP_DAC_OVERRIDE and CAP_DAC_READ_SEARCH. Similarly operations falling under the purview of CAP_CHOWN and CAP_LEASE are also left alone. 2006-09-30[PATCH] BLOCK: Move common FS-specific ioctls to linux/fs.h [try #6]David Howells
Move common FS-specific ioctls from linux/ext2_fs.h to linux/fs.h as FS_IOC_* and FS_IOC32_* and have the users of them use those as a base. Also move the GETFLAGS/SETFLAGS flags to linux/fs.h as FS_*_FL macros, and then have the other users use them as a base. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
