git://git.linaro.org/people/mike.turquette/linux Pull clock tree updates from Mike Turquette: "The clk tree changes for 3.18 are dominated by clock drivers. Mostly fixes and enhancements to existing drivers as well as new drivers. This tag contains a bit more arch code than I usually take due to some OMAP2+ changes. Additionally it contains the restart notifier handlers which are merged as a dependency into several trees. The PXA changes are the only messy part. Due to having a stable tree I had to revert one patch and follow up with one more fix near the tip of this tag. Some dead code is introduced but it will soon become live code after 3.18-rc1 is released as the rest of the PXA family is converted over to the common clock framework. Another trend in this tag is that multiple vendors have started to push the complexity of changing their CPU frequency into the clock driver, whereas this used to be done in CPUfreq drivers. Changes to the clk core include a generic gpio-clock type and a clk_set_phase() function added to the top-level clk.h api. Due to some confusion on the fbdev mailing list the kernel boot parameters documentation was updated to further explain the clk_ignore_unused parameter, which is often required by users of the simplefb driver. 2014-09-29clk: ti: change clock init to use generic of_clk_initTero Kristo
Previously, the TI clock driver initialized all the clocks hierarchically under each separate clock provider node. Now, each clock that requires IO access will instead check their parent node to find out which IO range to use. This patch allows the TI clock driver to use a few new features provided by the generic of_clk_init, and also allows registration of clock nodes outside the clock hierarchy (for example, any external clocks.) Newer SoCs have two different AHB interconnect. The AHB 32 bits Matrix interconnect (h32mx) has a clock that can be setup at the half of the h64mx clock (which is mck). The h32mx clock can not exceed 90 MHz. 2014-07-25clk: Support for clock parents and rates assigned from device treeSylwester Nawrocki
This patch adds helper functions to configure clock parents and rates as specified through 'assigned-clock-parents', 'assigned-clock-rates' DT properties for a clock provider or clock consumer device. The helpers are now being called by the bus code for the platform, I2C and SPI busses, before the driver probing and also in the clock core after registration of a clock provider. 2014-06-06ARM: OMAP5+: dpll: support Duty Cycle Correction(DCC)Andrii Tseglytskyi
Duty Cycle Correction(DCC) needs to be enabled if the MPU is to run at frequencies beyond 1.4GHz for OMAP5, DRA75x, DRA72x. MPU DPLL has a limitation on the maximum frequency it can be locked at. Duty Cycle Correction circuit is used to recover a correct duty cycle for achieving higher frequencies (hardware internally switches output to M3 output(CLKOUTHIF) from M2 output (CLKOUT)). For further information, See the note on OMAP5432 Technical Reference Manual(SWPU282U) chapter 3.6.3.3.1 "DPLLs Output Clocks Parameters", and also the "OMAP543x ES2.0 DM Operating Conditions Addendum v0.5" chapter 2.1 "Micro Processor Unit (MPU)". AT91 slow clk is a clk multiplexer. In some SoCs (sam9x5, sama5, sam9g45 families) this multiplexer can choose among 2 sources: an internal RC oscillator circuit and an oscillator using an external crystal. In other Socs (sam9260 family) the multiplexer source is hardcoded with the OSCSEL signal. 2014-02-19ARM: OMAP2+: clock: fix clkoutx2 with CLK_SET_RATE_PARENTTomi Valkeinen
If CLK_SET_RATE_PARENT is set for a clkoutx2 clock, calling clk_set_rate() on the clock "skips" the x2 multiplier as there are no set_rate and round_rate functions defined for the clkoutx2. This results in getting double the requested clock rates, breaking the display on omap3430 based devices. This got broken when d0f58bd3bba3877fb1af4664c4e33273d36f00e4 and related patches were merged for v3.14, as omapdss driver now relies more on the clk-framework and CLK_SET_RATE_PARENT. This patch implements set_rate and round_rate for clkoutx2. Tested on OMAP3430, OMAP3630, OMAP4460. Some OMAP clocks require knowledge about their parent clockdomain for book keeping purposes. This patch creates a new DT binding for TI clockdomains, which act as a collection of device clocks. Clockdomain itself is rather misleading name for the hardware functionality, as at least on OMAP4 / OMAP5 / DRA7 the clockdomains can be collections of either clocks and/or IP blocks, thus idle-domain or such might be more appropriate. For most cases on these SoCs, the kernel doesn't even need the information and the mappings can be ignored. This patch adds support for TI specific gate clocks. These behave as basic gate-clock, but have different ops / hw-ops for controlling the actual gate, for example waiting until the clock is ready. ti_dt_clk_init_provider() can now be used to initialize the contents of a single clock IP block. This parses all the clocks under the IP block and calls the corresponding init function for them. With DT, the clocks can be found by default only with their name, or alternatively through the device node of the consumer. This patch adds new at91 pll clock implementation using common clk framework. The pll clock layout describe the PLLX register layout. There are four pll clock layouts: - at91rm9200 - at91sam9g20 - at91sam9g45 - sama5d3 PLL clocks are given characteristics: - min/max clock source rate - ranges of valid clock output rates - values to set in out and icpll fields for each supported output range These characteristics are checked during rate change to avoid over/underclocking. These characteristics are described in atmel's SoC datasheet in "Electrical Characteristics" paragraph. Common clock framework allows to register clock providers to get called on of_clk_init() by using CLK_OF_DECLARE. This converts sunxi clock providers to make use of it and get rid of the mach specific clk init call. As sunxi has a bunch of independent clk provider nodes, we hook current clock init to board compatible to make it called once. Commit 7064f6b "clk: tegra: provide tegra_periph_reset_assert alternative" added ifdef'd static inline versions of some functions, but tested ARCH_TEGRA rather than CONFIG_ARCH_TEGRA, thus disabling these function in all cases. In some cases, this caused HW modules to misbehave; for example, the Tegra I2C driver BUG()d during boot on Seaboard. We have some tegra device drivers that are written to be platform independent but still use the tegra specific tegra_periph_reset_assert function. In order to build and link them without errors, this provides a static inline version of these functions that does nothing when Tegra support is disabled.
