2021-07-19ALSA: mpu401: Allocate resources with device-managed APIsTakashi Iwai
This patch converts the card object management with devres as a clean up. The remove callback gets reduced by that. This should give no user-visible functional changes. Note that this converts only the mpu401 card driver. The mpu401_uart component is still managed with snd_device. It's for the case where the mpu401_uart component may be removed dynamically without the actual device unbind. This patch converts the resource management in serial u16550 driver with devres as a clean up. Each manual resource management is converted with the corresponding devres helper, and the card object release is managed now via card->private_free instead of a lowlevel snd_device. This should give no user-visible functional changes. Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20210715075941.23332-76-tiwai@suse.de Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

2021-03-30Merge tag 'tags/mute-led-rework' into for-nextTakashi Iwai
ALSA: control - add generic LED API This patchset tries to resolve the diversity in the audio LED control among the ALSA drivers. A new control layer registration is introduced which allows to run additional operations on top of the elementary ALSA sound controls. A new control access group (three bits in the access flags) was introduced to carry the LED group information for the sound controls. The low-level sound drivers can just mark those controls using this access group. This information is not exported to the user space, but user space can manage the LED sound control associations through sysfs (last patch) per Mark's request. It makes things fully configurable in the kernel and user space (UCM). The actual state ('route') evaluation is really easy (the minimal value check for all channels / controls / cards). If there's more complicated logic for a given hardware, the card driver may eventually export a new read-only sound control for the LED group and do the logic itself. The new LED trigger control code is completely separated and possibly optional (there's no symbol dependency). The full code separation allows eventually to move this LED trigger control to the user space in future. Actually it replaces the already present functionality in the kernel space (HDA drivers) and allows a quick adoption for the recent hardware (ASoC codecs including SoundWire). snd_ctl_led 24576 0 The sound driver implementation is really easy: 1) call snd_ctl_led_request() when control LED layer should be automatically activated / it calls module_request("snd-ctl-led") on demand / 2) mark all related kcontrols with SNDRV_CTL_ELEM_ACCESS_SPK_LED or SNDRV_CTL_ELEM_ACCESS_MIC_LED Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20210317172945.842280-1-perex@perex.cz Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de>

The tasklet is an old API that should be deprecated, usually can be converted to another decent API. This patch replaces the usage of tasklet in pcsp driver with a simple work. In pcsp driver, a global tasklet is used for offloading the period-elapse handling in the hrtimer callback (introduced in commit 96c7d478efad "ALSA: pcsp - Fix locking messes in snd-pcsp"). It can be achieved gracefully with a work queued in the high-prio system workqueue. This also changes tasklet_kill() with cancel_work_sync() in the sync_stop callback, which is anyway better to assure canceling the pending tasks. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai: "As the diffstat shows we've had again a lot of works done for this cycle: the majority of changes are the continued componentization and code refactoring in ASoC, the tree-wide PCM API updates and cleanups and SOF updates while a few ASoC driver updates are seen, too. Here we go, some highlights: Core: - Finally y2038 support landed to ALSA ABI; some ioctls have been extended and lots of tricks were applied - Applying the new managed PCM buffer API to all drivers; the API itself was already merged in 5.5 - The already deprecated dimension support in ALSA control API is dropped completely now - Verification of ALSA control elements to catch API misuses ASoC: - Further code refactorings and moving things to the component level - Lots of updates and improvements on SOF / Intel drivers; now including common HDMI driver and SoundWire support - New driver support for Ingenic JZ4770, Mediatek MT6660, Qualcomm WCD934x and WSA881x, and Realtek RT700, RT711, RT715, RT1011, RT1015 and RT1308 HD-audio: - Improved ring-buffer communications using waitqueue - Drop the superfluous buffer preallocation on x86 Others: - Many code cleanups, mostly constifications over the whole tree - USB-audio: quirks for MOTU, Corsair Virtuoso, Line6 Helix - FireWire: code refactoring for oxfw and dice drivers" * tag 'sound-5.6-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound: (638 commits) ALSA: usb-audio: add quirks for Line6 Helix devices fw>=2.82 ALSA: hda: Add Clevo W65_67SB the power_save blacklist ASoC: soc-core: remove null_snd_soc_ops ASoC: soc-pcm: add soc_rtd_trigger() ASoC: soc-pcm: add soc_rtd_hw_free() ASoC: soc-pcm: add soc_rtd_hw_params() ASoC: soc-pcm: add soc_rtd_prepare() ASoC: soc-pcm: add soc_rtd_shutdown() ASoC: soc-pcm: add soc_rtd_startup() ASoC: rt1015: add rt1015 amplifier driver ASoC: madera: Correct some kernel doc ASoC: topology: fix soc_tplg_fe_link_create() - link->dobj initialization order ASoC: Intel: skl_hda_dsp_common: Fix global-out-of-bounds bug ASoC: madera: Correct DMIC only input hook ups ALSA: cs46xx: fix spelling mistake "to" -> "too" ALSA: hda - Add docking station support for Lenovo Thinkpad T420s ASoC: Add MediaTek MT6660 Speaker Amp Driver ASoC: dt-bindings: rt5645: add suppliers ASoC: max98090: fix deadlock in max98090_dapm_put_enum_double() ASoC: dapm: add snd_soc_dapm_put_enum_double_locked ...
