2013-04-02replace last __bss_end__ occurrences with __bss_endAlbert ARIBAUD
Simon Glass' commit 3929fb0a141530551b3fce15ee08629f80d5ef2a, which changed all occurrences of __bss__end__ into __bss_end, left behind some untouched __bss_end__ occurrences in all 33 u-boot.lds.debug files, in board/mousse/u-boot.lds.ram and in board/mousse/u-boot.lds.rom. These are replaced here. Signed-off-by: Albert ARIBAUD <albert.u.boot@aribaud.net>
2013-03-18Merge branch 'master' of git://git.denx.de/u-boot-armTom Rini
Albert's rework of the linker scripts conflicted with Simon's making everyone use __bss_end. We also had a minor conflict over README.scrapyard being added to in mainline and enhanced in u-boot-arm/master with proper formatting. Conflicts: arch/arm/cpu/ixp/u-boot.lds arch/arm/cpu/u-boot.lds arch/arm/lib/Makefile board/actux1/u-boot.lds board/actux2/u-boot.lds board/actux3/u-boot.lds board/dvlhost/u-boot.lds board/freescale/mx31ads/u-boot.lds doc/README.scrapyard include/configs/tegra-common.h Build tested for all of ARM and run-time tested on am335x_evm. 2013-03-15Replace __bss_end__ with __bss_endSimon Glass
Note this is a tree-wide change affecting multiple architectures. At present we use __bss_start, but mostly __bss_end__. This seems inconsistent and in a number of places __bss_end is used instead. Change to use __bss_end for the BSS end symbol throughout U-Boot. This makes it possible to use the asm-generic/sections.h file on all archs. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
2013-03-12Refactor linker-generated arraysAlbert ARIBAUD
Refactor linker-generated array code so that symbols which were previously linker-generated are now compiler- generated. This causes relocation records of type R_ARM_ABS32 to become R_ARM_RELATIVE, which makes code which uses LGA able to run before relocation as well as after. Note: this affects more than ARM targets, as linker- lists span possibly all target architectures, notably PowerPC. Conflicts: arch/arm/cpu/arm926ejs/mxs/u-boot-spl.lds arch/arm/cpu/arm926ejs/spear/u-boot-spl.lds arch/arm/cpu/armv7/omap-common/u-boot-spl.lds board/ait/cam_enc_4xx/u-boot-spl.lds board/davinci/da8xxevm/u-boot-spl-da850evm.lds board/davinci/da8xxevm/u-boot-spl-hawk.lds board/vpac270/u-boot-spl.lds Signed-off-by: Albert ARIBAUD <albert.u.boot@aribaud.net>
2012-10-22common: Discard the __u_boot_cmd sectionMarek Vasut
The command declaration now uses the new LG-array method to generate list of commands. Thus the __u_boot_cmd section is now superseded and redundant and therefore can be removed. Also, remove externed symbols associated with this section from include/command.h . 2012-10-22common: Add .u_boot_list into all linker filesMarek Vasut

2011-10-15punt unused clean/distclean targetsMike Frysinger
The top level Makefile does not do any recursion into subdirs when cleaning, so these clean/distclean targets in random arch/board dirs never get used. Punt them all. MAKEALL didn't report any errors related to this that I could see. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>

2011-04-04powerpc/8xxx: Refactor fsl_ddr_get_spd into common code from boardKumar Gala
Move fsl_ddr_get_spd into common mpc8xxx/ddr/main.c as most boards pretty much do the same thing. The only variations are in how many controllers or DIMMs per controller exist. To make this work we standardize on the names of the SPD_EEPROM_ADDRESS defines based on the use case of the board. We allow boards to override get_spd to either do board specific fixups to the SPD data or deal with any unique behavior of how the SPD eeproms are wired up. 2011-04-04powerpc/8xxx: Replace fsl_ddr_get_mem_data_rate with get_ddr_freq()Kumar Gala
Every 85xx board implements fsl_ddr_get_mem_data_rate via get_ddr_freq() and every 86xx board uses get_bus_freq(). If implement get_ddr_freq() as a static inline to call get_bus_freq() we can remove fsl_ddr_get_mem_data_rate altogether and just call get_ddr_freq() directly. 2011-03-27rename _end to __bss_end__Po-Yu Chuang
Currently, _end is used for end of BSS section. We want _end to mean end of u-boot image, so we rename _end to __bss_end__ first. Signed-off-by: Po-Yu Chuang <ratbert@faraday-tech.com>
2011-01-14mpc85xx boards: initdram() cleanup/bugfixBecky Bruce
Correct initdram to use phys_size_t to represent the size of dram; instead of changing this all over the place, and correcting all the other random errors I've noticed, create a common initdram that is used by all non-corenet 85xx parts. Most of the initdram() functions were identical, with 2 common differences: 1) DDR tlbs for the fixed_sdram case were set up in initdram() on some boards, and were part of the tlb_table on others. I have changed them all over to the initdram() method - we shouldn't be accessing dram before this point so they don't need to be done sooner, and this seems cleaner. 2) Parts that require the DDR11 erratum workaround had different implementations - I have adopted the version from the Freescale errata document. It also looks like some of the versions were buggy, and, depending on timing, could have resulted in the DDR controller being disabled. This seems bad. The xpedite boards had a common/fsl_8xxx_ddr.c; with this change only the 517 board uses this so I have moved the ddr code into that board's directory in xpedite517x.c Signed-off-by: Becky Bruce <beckyb@kernel.crashing.org> Tested-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2011-01-09miiphy: convert to linux/mii.hMike Frysinger

2010-11-17Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier
Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
2010-10-18Makefile: move all Power Architecture boards into boards.cfgWolfgang Denk
Clean up Makefile, and drop a lot of the config.mk files on the way. We now also automatically pick all boards that are listed in boards.cfg (and with all configurations), so we can drop the redundant entries from MAKEALL to avoid building these twice. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2010-10-18Rename TEXT_BASE into CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASEWolfgang Denk
The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by a simple, table driven script. Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to a Kconfig driven configuration system. 2010-08-09net ppc: fix ethernet device names with spacesHeiko Schocher
since commit 1384f3bb8a4f9066805b70c1418eda78ecb73fdd ethernet names with spaces drop a Warning: eth device name has a space! message. This patch fix it for: - "FEC ETHERNET" devices found on mpc512x, mpc5xxx, mpc8xx and mpc8220 boards. renamed to "FEC". - "SCC ETHERNET" devices found on mpc8xx, mpc82xx based boards. Renamed to "SCC". - "HDLC ETHERNET" devices found on mpc8xx boards Renamed to "HDLC" - "FCC ETHERNET" devices found on mpc8260 and mpc85xx based boards. Renamed to "FCC" Tested on the kup4k board. 2010-04-21Move arch/ppc to arch/powerpcStefan Roese
As discussed on the list, move "arch/ppc" to "arch/powerpc" to better match the Linux directory structure. Please note that this patch also changes the "ppc" target in MAKEALL to "powerpc" to match this new infrastructure. But "ppc" is kept as an alias for now, to not break compatibility with scripts using this name. 2010-04-13Rename lib_generic/ to lib/Peter Tyser
Now that the other architecture-specific lib directories have been moved out of the top-level directory there's not much reason to have the '_generic' suffix on the common lib directory. Signed-off-by: Peter Tyser <ptyser@xes-inc.com>
2010-04-13Move lib_$ARCH directories to arch/$ARCH/libPeter Tyser
Also move lib_$ARCH/config.mk to arch/$ARCH/config.mk This change is intended to clean up the top-level directory structure and more closely mimic Linux's directory organization. Signed-off-by: Peter Tyser <ptyser@xes-inc.com>
2009-10-03ppc: Enable full relocation to RAMPeter Tyser
The following changes allow U-Boot to fully relocate from flash to RAM: - Remove linker scripts' .fixup sections from the .text section - Add -mrelocatable to PLATFORM_RELFLAGS for all boards - Define CONFIG_RELOC_FIXUP_WORKS for all boards Previously, U-Boot would partially relocate, but statically initialized pointers needed to be manually relocated. 2009-09-24ppc/85xx: Clean up use of LAWAR definesKumar Gala
On 85xx platforms we shouldn't be using any LAWAR_* defines but using the LAW_* ones provided by fsl-law.h. Rename any such uses and limit the LAWAR_ to the 83xx platform as the only user so we will get compile errors in the future. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2009-08-2885xx: Move to a common linker scriptKumar Gala
There are really no differences between all the 85xx linker scripts so we can just move to a single common one. Board code is still able to override the common one if need be. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
