2023-07-14disable NFS support by defaultPeter Robinson
While NFS is widely used in data centres, and private networks it's quite a nuanced usecase for device firmware. A lot of devices already disable it. Various network protocols should really be opt in, not opt out, because they add extra size and are potential attack vectors from a security PoV. In the NFS case it doesn't really make sense for a lot of devices like tables, SBCs etc. It's also something we don't really want for SystemReady-IR due to security concerns. 2023-05-01mpc83xx: Don't allow W and G bits in IBATsChristophe Leroy
The "Programming Environments Manual for 32-Bit Implementations of the PowerPC™ Architecture" says "W and G bits are not defined for IBAT registers. Attempting to write to these bits causes boundedly-undefined results" The "e300 Power Architecture™ Core Family Reference Manual" says the same: "Neither the W or G bits of the IBAT registers should be set. Attempting to write to these bits causes boundedly-undefined results." Remove the possibility to set those bytes. 2023-03-06powerpc, mpc83xx: Remove CONFIG_ELBC_BRx_ORxChristophe Leroy
Commit fe7d654d04 ("mpc83xx: Migrate CONFIG_SYS_{BR, OR}*_PRELIM to Kconfig") converted CONFIG_SYS_{BRx/ORx}_PRELIM to Kconfig by implementing a fine-grained selection of every bit in Kconfig. But commit c7fad78ec0 ("Convert CONFIG_SYS_BR0_PRELIM et al to Kconfig") reworked it so that you now just have to provide the raw value of each register in Kconfig. However, all fine-grained Kconfig items remained allthough they are not used anymore. Remove them all. This converts the following to Kconfig: CONFIG_GATEWAYIP CONFIG_HOSTNAME CONFIG_IPADDR CONFIG_NETMASK CONFIG_ROOTPATH CONFIG_SERVERIP CONFIG_UBOOTPATH To do this, we introduce a CONFIG_USE_ form of each of the above and change include/env_default.h to test for that to be set before setting a value. This converts the following to Kconfig: CONFIG_SYS_MONITOR_LEN To do this, we set a default of 0 for everyone because there are a number of cases where we define CONFIG_SYS_MONITOR_LEN but the only impact is that we set TOTAL_MALLOC_LEN to be CONFIG_SYS_MALLOC_LEN + CONFIG_ENV_SIZE, so we must continue to allow all boards to set this value. Update the SPL code to use 200 KB as the default raw U-Boot size directly, if we don't have a real CONFIG_SYS_MONITOR_LEN value. 2020-11-06board: Rename uclass to sysinfoSimon Glass
This uclass is intended to provide a way to obtain information about a U-Boot board. But the concept of a U-Boot 'board' is the whole system, not just one circuit board, meaning that 'board' is something of a misnomer for this uclass. In addition, the name 'board' is a bit overused in U-Boot and we want to use the same uclass to provide SMBIOS information. The obvious name is 'system' but that is so vague as to be meaningless. Use 'sysinfo' instead, since this uclass is aimed at providing information on the system. Rename everything accordingly. Note: Due to the patch delta caused by the symbol renames, this patch shows some renamed files as being deleted in one place and created in another. Many boards do not use all selected framebuffer depth configurations, for such boards there is some unused code in video and console uclass routines. Make depth specific code optional to avoid dead code and slightly reduce binary size. Also make ANSI code optional for the same reason. - In ARMv8 NXP Layerscape platforms we also need to make use of CONFIG_SYS_RELOC_GD_ENV_ADDR now, do so. - On ENV_IS_IN_REMOTE, CONFIG_ENV_OFFSET is never used, drop the define to 0. - Add Kconfig entry for ENV_ADDR. - Make ENV_ADDR / ENV_OFFSET depend on the env locations that use it. - Add ENV_xxx_REDUND options that depend on their primary option and SYS_REDUNDAND_ENVIRONMENT - On a number of PowerPC platforms, use SPL_ENV_ADDR not CONFIG_ENV_ADDR for the pre-main-U-Boot environment location. - On ENV_IS_IN_SPI_FLASH, check not for CONFIG_ENV_ADDR being set but rather it being non-zero, as it will now be zero by default. - Rework the env_offset absolute in env/embedded.o to not use CONFIG_ENV_OFFSET as it was the only use of ENV_OFFSET within ENV_IS_IN_FLASH. - Migrate all platforms.
